Flat button weekend

4 posts in this topic

Found 15 flat buttons this weekend with typical back marks of Treble Gilt Stand Colour, Double Gilt, and Plated.  Also two very old coins in really rough shape, a 1810 Cent and a 1800 Half Cent.

Nice group of recoveries, looks like you have a good site working. 1800 was first year of issue for DB half cents and they are scarce, I think just over 200K struck.

Is the Upper right item a rein guide or some type of key?

  Congrats!

I am not sure what it is.  It looks like some sort of key for taking small bolts off.

I sure wish the coins were in better shape.  All I can see on the cent is a faint ourline of the head, the words "liberty", and the date on once side, the reverse clearly says 'One Cent".  On the half cent, all I can see is the date.
